The Ruins of Mrauk U

The ruins of Mrauk U are located up the Kaladan River, 80 km north of Sittwe , present day the capital of Rakhine State.

An ancient capital founded by Rakhine King Minzawmun in 1433.

Unlike temples in Bagan, Mrauk-U’s ruins are constructed of stone (rather than the traditional bricks) in a truly unique style.

Chin villages are also an attraction as the Chin People are known for their unique custom of tattooing their women’s faces.
